Official Plan
The Official Plan is the Municipality’s primary land‑use planning document. It outlines the long‑term vision for growth, development, and community priorities, guiding how land is used and how our community evolves over time. The Plan provides direction on housing, infrastructure, natural heritage, economic development, and the overall form and character of future development.
The Official Plan ensures that all planning decisions align with provincial legislation, reflect local needs, and support a sustainable and resilient future for residents and businesses.
What the Official Plan Does
- Establishes the community’s long‑term vision and planning goals
- Guides decisions on land use, zoning, and development applications
- Protects natural features and environmental resources
- Supports economic growth and community well‑being
- Ensures infrastructure and services are planned responsibly
- Aligns local planning with provincial policies and legislation
Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw
The Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw works hand‑in‑hand with the Official Plan. While the Official Plan sets the vision and policy framework, the Zoning Bylaw provides the detailed regulations that implement that vision—such as permitted uses, building heights, setbacks, and lot standards.
A full review and update of the Comprehensive Zoning Bylaw will follow the approval of the Official Plan to ensure consistency between the two documents.
