Water and Wastewater Services

The Township of Manitouwadge provides treated drinking water and wastewater services. Water and wastewater charges are included on your property tax bill. Interim Billing (First Half of Annual Charges)

Mailed in February
Due: March 31 and May 31

Final Billing (Second Half of Annual Charges)

Mailed in August
Due: September 30 and November 30

Billing dates may vary. Your bill will show the official due dates.

Water and wastewater charges are included on your property tax bill. All payments must be made using the property tax payment options listed below.

You may pay property taxes and miscellaneous invoices (including lot rent) via the following methods:

Bill Payment at select financial institutions (CIBC, Scotiabank, TD, RBC, Simplii Financial)
Cheque, money order, or bank draft via mail, drop box, or in person at the municipal office
Interac e-transfer ($5 fee applies, click here for instructions)
Online card payments* via the Township's online system at https://online.manitouwadge.ca/
Cash, debit card, or credit card* in person at the municipal office

*Fees apply for online card payments, and for property tax and lot rent payments made via credit card. Payment receipts are available upon request.

The Township’s water system includes:

Five groundwater wells
A water treatment plant
A 900,000‑gallon reservoir
21 km of water mains
1,250 water service connections
136 fire hydrants

The Manitouwadge Water Treatment Plant and Distribution System is operated by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA). Water is treated and distributed using a programmable logic control system that maintains consistent pressure and flow. The system has firm pumping capacity to meet peak‑hour demand for a design population of 6,000 persons.

The wastewater system includes:

19 km of gravity sewer mains
1,220 sewer lateral connections
A main pumping station between the former High School and former Trailer Park
3.5 km of force main
Two facultative aerated lagoons beside Rudder Lake

The lagoon system is designed to handle average daily flows for a population of 6,000 persons.

The water and wastewater systems operate in accordance with:

Ontario’s Safe Drinking Water Act
Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs)
Regular sampling, monitoring, and reporting requirements
