Public Notice Update (July 17, 2026) – Wastewater Force Main Repair Completed
The Township of Manitouwadge is pleased to advise residents that the emergency wastewater bypass was no longer required as of 1:13 p.m. today, and repairs to the wastewater force main have been successfully completed. Normal wastewater system operations have been restored.
Water sampling has been completed; however, Manitouwadge Lake remains under advisory until the Thunder Bay District Health Unit officially lifts the restriction. Residents and visitors are asked to continue following all public health guidance and avoid activities prohibited under the current advisory until further notice.
The Township, OCWA, and public health officials will continue to monitor the situation and review sampling results. Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.
The Township extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this emergency response. The rapid and coordinated efforts of Public Works staff, OCWA, Villeneuve Construction, supporting contractors, and all those who worked long hours to address this situation allowed the repair to be completed safely and efficiently.
Thank you to the residents of Manitouwadge for your patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout this event.
We will continue to provide updates as they are received, including notification when the Thunder Bay District Health Unit lifts the advisory for Manitouwadge Lake.
