Emergency Management in Manitouwadge

Emergencies can occur at any time. Most day‑to‑day incidents are effectively handled by our local first responders—paramedic, police, and fire services. However, larger‑scale or high‑risk events require coordinated planning and preparedness.

Municipalities must be ready to respond to emergencies caused by natural, human‑caused, or technological events. These situations can impact our health, safety, environment, property, critical infrastructure, and overall community resilience.

Manitouwadge is recognized as a leader in emergency preparedness. Our Emergency Management program is active and continually maintained. The Township’s Emergency Response Plan is current, and our Emergency Control Group regularly trains to ensure readiness.

Building a Disaster‑Resilient Community

Across Ontario, municipalities share a commitment to strengthening community resilience. You can contribute by being prepared at home and at work.

Emergency preparedness starts with three simple steps:

  1. Know the risks in your area
  2. Make an emergency plan for your household
  3. Prepare a 72‑hour Emergency Survival Kit

Taking these steps helps protect you and your family during unexpected events.
