Freedom of Information
The Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) gives individuals the right to access information held by Ontario municipalities, while ensuring that personal information is collected, used, and disclosed responsibly.
MFIPPA applies to all municipal departments, boards, and committees within the Township of Manitouwadge. It does not apply to private businesses, medical offices, federal institutions, or provincial ministries (which are governed by separate legislation).
Accessing Municipal Information
Many Township records are available without a formal FOI request. Before submitting a request under MFIPPA, residents are encouraged to contact the Clerk’s Office to see if the information can be provided through routine disclosure.
Examples of information often available without a formal request include:
- Council agendas and minutes
- Bylaws and policies
- Public reports
- Planning and building documents
- General municipal information
Click here or visit our Applications, Permits and Licences page to complete the MFIPPA Access/Correction Request Form.
Fees
A $5.00 application fee applies to each request.
Right to Appeal
If you are not satisfied with the Township's decision regarding access to records or personal information, you may appeal to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
Additional details are available on the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario’s website.
