Public Notice Update (July 22, 2026) – Thunder Bay District Health Unit Lifts Manitouwadge Lake Advisory
The Township of Manitouwadge is pleased to advise residents and visitors that the Thunder Bay District Health Unit has lifted the advisory and restrictions for Manitouwadge Lake.
Following the completion of repairs to the wastewater force main and the restoration of normal wastewater system operations, water quality testing was conducted at multiple locations throughout Manitouwadge Lake. Based on the sampling results and assessment by public health officials, the Health Unit has determined that the lake is safe for normal recreational use.
Residents and visitors may resume regular activities on and around the lake.
The Township would like to thank the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, OCWA, Public Works staff, Villeneuve Construction, and all agencies involved for their assistance throughout this event. We also extend our sincere appreciation to residents and visitors for their patience, understanding, and cooperation while the advisory was in place.
