The Township of Manitouwadge is pleased to announce the upcoming Manitou Road Reconstruction Project, a major infrastructure investment that will enhance road safety, pedestrian access, and underground servicing in our community.
This project includes:
• Repaving of Manitou Road (Adjala Road intersection to the front of the Recreation Centre)
• Installation of new sidewalk infrastructure
• Upgrades to municipal storm/sewer/water systems
The Manitou Road Reconstruction Project is made possible by two provincial government grants with Municipal Council approving a municipal contribution through the Township OCIF funding.
Provincial Government Grants (contributors to be announced after provincial announcements):• $3,650,000.00
• $469,000.00
Municipal Contribution (OCIF): $861,000.00Total Project Cost: $4,980,000.00
The project has been tendered and awarded to Villeneuve Construction, who is expected to mobilize on-site within the next couple of weeks with the project expected to be completed in the Fall 2026.
We are excited to see this significant investment move forward and appreciate the community’s patience during construction.
What to Expect
Access to homes Driveway access will be maintained as much as possible. If temporary restrictions are needed, residents will be notified in advance. Traffic & detours Expect some delays and lane reductions. Detour signage will be posted when required. Noise & work hours Construction will take place during standard daytime hours. Some noise and vibration are expected. Water/sewer service Upgrades may require short, scheduled service interruptions. We’ll provide notice before any planned shutoffs.
