Public Notice: Increased Bear Activity in Manitouwadge

The Township of Manitouwadge is aware of the recent increase in black bear sightings and activity within our community. We want to reassure residents that proactive measures are in place.

Bear Management Update:
This summer, three black bears have been successfully trapped and relocated by our authorized personnel. All relocations follow strict provincial guidelines to ensure the safety of both residents and wildlife.

Trap Locations:
Trap placement is determined by the Manager of Bylaw based on areas with high bear sightings.

Reminder: Tampering is Illegal

Do not interfere with bear traps under any circumstances. Tampering includes:
• Releasing a trapped bear
• Closing or disabling a trap
• Disturbing the trap in any way

Such actions may result in charges under Section 13 of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
