Kiwissa Ski Hill is open for the season effective Saturday, January 14, 2023. Hours of operation are Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Phone: 807-826-3523.

How Kiwissa Got Its Name
“In the fall of 1956, at one of their first meetings, with 12 members in attendance, they came to a deadlock as to what should be the name chosen for the ski hill. There were 6 votes for “Manitouwadge Ski Club” and 6 votes for “Kiwissa Ski Club.” The latter name honouring a local Ojibway trapping family was chosen. They didn’t record how the tie was broken, but “Kiwissa Ski Club” was accepted unanimously as the new name.” -Taken from: Manitouwadge Cave of the Great Spirit. Author: Pauline Dean
