Up here, the ride is wild in every sense of the word. Miles and miles of abandoned logging roads lay down a carpet of hard-packed sand as they criss-cross the rugged landscape. Ride from dawn ’til dusk and never cross your own tire tracks once or choose a route that takes you to one of our crystal clear lakes or a cascading waterfall. It’s exhilarating exhaustion in the extreme.

 

This individual sport is very popular amongst our youth of Manitouwadge and requires endurance, bike handling skills and self-reliance, and can be performed almost anywhere from their back yard to a gravel road, but the majority of bikers in our community ride off-road trails, or (narrow trails that wind through our boreal forest).
