Quality of Life is Second to None!
Manitouwadge has everything that you would find in a much larger community but is packed into a small bundle. Take for example our modern hospital built in 1998. It was recently announced that Santé Manitouwadge Health has been selected as one of five sites in Ontario to integrate local health services under one structure serving the local residents. These changes will further align health services and programs to better serve residents of Manitouwadge. In addition, Manitouwadge hosts a full-service pharmacy, a dentist, and visiting chiropractors and veterinarians.
If indoor or outdoor recreation is what you’re looking for, then you are in for a real treat. Manitouwadge has plenty of year-round recreational activities for people of all ages.
In the summer there is a municipal 9-hole golf course with full clubhouse facilities, vast trail systems for hiking, mountain biking or off-roading, a recreation centre with an outdoor swimming pool and a great fitness centre.
Additionally, many residents take advantage of being surrounded by pristine lakes and rivers that offer excellent fishing, canoeing and kayaking. One local campground provides 5 tent/campsites with hydro available or camp on Crown Land (please follow all rules and regulations).
In the winter Manitouwadge offers separate curling and ice rink facilities, the Kiwissa Ski Hill and Chalet with 3,480 metres of groomed trails over 9 runs and a vertical drop of 94 meters, and miles of cross country ski trails.
Manitouwadge has abundant amounts of snow in which you can snowmobile across a virgin winterscape, or take a snowmobile expedition deep into the frozen Canadian Shield and back. Venture inside or just outside of town and take advantage of some of the best ice fishing anywhere.
