Waste Electronic Equipment

The Corporation of the Township of Manitouwadge has entered into an agreement with Ontario Electronic Stewardship under the Collection Site Operator Agreement, passed at our Regular Council Meeting of July 13, 2011 under By-Law 2011-14.

Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES) is a not-for-profit industry organization that oversees the responsible reuse and recycling of waste electronics through its network of more than 600 approved collection sites across the province.

The program was developed in co-operation with Waste Diversion Ontario under the Waste Diversion Act, 2002. Residents of Manitouwadge can now bring their used, obsolete or unwanted electronic equipment for responsible reuse and refurbishment or safe, secure recycling. The reason is simple – to recover what can be used again, and safely manage hazardous materials which should never go to landfill.

Effective September 24th, 2013 you can bring your used electronics to theManitouwadge Public Works Yard at 11 Sault Road during regular operating hours, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. A Public Works Employee will direct you to the designated area for Waste Electronic Equipment (WEE). From there, these items will either be reused or recycled in an environmentally responsible way.
