Do you love to garden? The Township of Manitouwadge invites you to participate in the Adopt-a-Flowerbed program. The Adopt-a-Flowerbed program is a volunteer-based activity where local businesses and volunteer groups "adopt" and maintain designated flower beds in Manitouwadge. Help us beautify our town!

Program Guidelines

  • The flowerbed should be adopted for one complete growing seasons (tentatively June through September)
  • Adopters may either be an individual, business or group, however groups must identify one person to be the contact with the Community Services Department
  • Planting is restricted to only those areas identified by the Township as Adopt-a-Flowerbed locations
  • Sign up is on a first come, first served basis

Volunteer Responsibilities

  • Provide own hand tools for area maintenance
  • Notify the Township of problems or concerns
  • Plant flowers supplied by the Township
  • Maintain flowerbeds throughout the growing season (weed removal and litter clean up)
  • Clean flowerbeds and remove flowers once growing season is over

The Township's Responsibilities

  • Provide flowers for flowerbeds
  • Water flowerbeds
  • Acknowledge the adoption through signage placed by the flowerbed
  • If at any time the Township deems the flowerbed to be unsightly, contact will be made with the individual adopter or adopter team lead
  • If identified issues are not corrected within five business days, the Town will take over the maintenance of the bed and may offer the bed to another group or individual

Available Flowerbeds

  • Traffic circle (5 available)
  • Centotaph (2 available)
  • Firehall (2 available)
  • Church triangle (2 available)
